Instead of silk ribbon...why not use raffia, like the bouquet above, or a natural fabric like a hessian, sheer cotton lawn or lace.

Autumn: Snowberry, Roses, Sedum, Chrysanthemum blooms, Dahlias, Astilbe, Hydrangeas, Lisianthus, Stocks, and lots and lots of foliages.
Winter: Amaryllis, Roses, Dahlias, Genista, Rananculus, Hyacainths, Brassica, Viburnum, Ilex, Anemone's and foliages.
